On Saturday, MORE PROOF take over the Drake, which follows Friday night's Toronto debut of Megasoid, who are starting a monthly in the basement.

MEGASOID are Sixtoo, and Hadji from Wolf Parade. They like to rock parties under bridges, with their sick, pounding soundystem, the Megasoid Remix PA. It's full of Doepfer modules, and the thing must cost a fortune, but I imagine it's an ongoing project that will just build itself eventually. Sixtoo will have a brain wave monitor that will allow him to make beats electro-telepathically, and Hadji's muscle electrodes will cook samples every time he twiches his shoulder. I can see Ghislain Poirier getting pulled in by a length of patch cable tentacles.
The reggae track from that clip comes from Barrington Levy, original dancehall king. The tune is called "Here I Come", and it dates back 22 years. CIUT did a live broadcast of his Harbourfront show on Sunday night, so I had the stage feed glued to my ears in the booth just behind the tech hut. We made sure the crowd mic was up, because the big thing at a Levy show is the shoutbacks and hollas.
The above clip is from 1985, and I can assure you that this song has grown in massiveness with age. Levy was so sick, and the only thing that kept me from jumping off a bridge for missing Daft Punk over work was his relentless energy and "dilee-oh-oh-oh's".
Speaking of Daft Punk, the Toronto vids are up and they just keep comin'.
Ok, now I'm going to go jump off a bridge.
