So, the year is winding down, but it doesn't have to be a sad goodbye to 2006. It was an eye-opening year for ESB, mainly because of the stunning ability of the blogosphere to be so far ahead of the game when it came to the freshest unreleased cuts and remixes from around the world. There are too many higlights to mention. Every week , every show, was a new adventure for us, and we're all the better for it, listeners and artists alike.

It should be no surprise, then, that we've got a lot to look forward to in 2007. We've already cracked open some early gifts, with new tracks from the likes of Simian Mobile Disco and LCD Soundsystem, so let's bank on it that the next 365 will be a full-on wild ride through the blogosphere on a shimmering comet.

This video is called "Winnipeg in the 70s"...not sure why I like it, but having spent my formative years in Graintown, I have to say, I got struck by a hint of nostalgia watching this. Of course, the home footage was shot way before I was born, but very little has changed there, as the place is sometimes stuck in a mid-century haze. Just figured I'd share the sentiments with you, just in case you have a similar feeling for a place you once called home way back when.

NEON will be hosting Berlin's Boys Noize for their annual NYE party at the SAT in Montreal. I'd highly urge you to make the trek to MTL for this party. I attended a few NEON events over the past few years, including last year's NYE which brought Alex Gopher and Digitalism to the table. The NEON crew throw amazing nights, usually attended by about 1000 people in the incredibly large Society of Art and Technology space. No long lineups, no waiting for half an hour for an overprced drink, and a superb soundsystem and video display...not to mention all the beautiful, easy going party people. Also, the VIP section is open to everyone! No club bullshit...this is the real deal.

If you tuned into the show yesterday, you would have heard a couple of Boys Noize selections, one of them remixing Tiga (who founded NEON), and the other a new original available on the Kitsune Maison 3 compilation. Over the next couple of weeks, we'll be playing numerous selections from the comp, which brings together the best tracks and remixes in disco, dance and indie from across North America and Europe, by the likes of Alex Gopher, Van She, The Lovely Feathers, Metronymy, The Klaxons and Simian Mobile Disco, to name a few.
